At least 11 Hantavirus cases have been reported, including nine confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Thursday that there are currently no known Hantavirus cases in the United States. Hantavirus typically spreads through contact with rodent droppings and is not easily transmitted between people.

Van Duijnhoven said it will take about three days to disinfect the ship under Dutch public health guidelines. An Arctic cruise is scheduled to depart from Keflavik, Iceland, on May 29. About two dozen passengers and crew members are already in quarantine in the Netherlands after arriving in the country on a series of flights over the previous two weeks.

The Public Health Agency of Canada said one of four Canadians in isolation after leaving the ship tested positive on Sunday and that it would share information about the case with the WHO. However, the Andes virus detected aboard the Hondius may be capable of limited person-to-person transmission in rare cases. There were still 25 crew members and two medical personnel on board when the MV Hondius reached Europe's largest port.
