Arizona, California, New York and Oregon have all agreed to accept those returning from the Nebraska quarantine facility. The passengers were given the permission to leave under the condition that they stay home, according to NBC News. As of May 27, there were 13 Hantavirus cases linked to the ship worldwide, with 11 cases confirmed, the CDC said.

Once they return home, they will be spending three more weeks of monitoring at home for the remainder of the virus' 42-day quarantine period, which ends on June 22. Of the 13 people still at the facility, some have chosen to stay longer, while others are awaiting permission to leave. Hantavirus is a family of viruses mainly spread by rodents, including rats and mice.

In rare cases, the virus can spread through bites or scratches, according to the CDC. Some Hantaviruses can also cause hemorrhagic fever and kidney damage. Some early symptoms resemble the flu, with fever, chills, muscle aches and headaches.
