Three more passengers of the M/V Hondius have left the National Quarantine Unit. Starting Monday, federal officials said all 18 American passengers could return home, but only if their states agree to strict supervision requirements. Under that protocol, states must provide 24/7 oversight at each passenger's residence for three weeks, either through a police officer or a public health worker stationed outside.
A release from the University of Nebraska Medical Center says the passengers have returned to their home states for continued monitoring for the next two weeks. Symptoms can take up to 42 days to appear, according to UNMC. The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and each passenger's local and state health department oversaw the travel plans, UNMC said.
UNMC/Nebraska Medicine is one of 13 Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Centers in the federal National Special Pathogen System, according to the release. Download the First Alert 6 streaming app to your TV or find us in your favorite streaming platform.
