Sacramento health officials say the risk of Hantavirus remains low after a resident was quarantined for potential exposure linked to a cruise ship outbreak. Yesterday, California health officials said four California residents have been potentially exposed to Hantavirus. Three were on the ship, and the Sacramento County resident was on a flight with an infected passenger. Hantavirus is rarely seen in Sacramento, with the last case being in 2018. Kasirye said the specific strain of the virus can be transmitted from person to person, so that's why people who have been potentially exposed need to be monitored. Three people who contracted the virus on the cruise ship have died. She noted the person is not sick and has not exhibited any symptoms.
